Forbes magazine produced an article on the coffee supply chain with a very useful graphic indicating the many links that connect together to get you your daily coffee. You can see that at any point along this chain there is the possibility for corruption without regulation.
As mentioned in the notes, corruption in the pharmaceutical supply chain is a constant concern not only to the industries reputation but also to the health and safety of the patients using the products (drugs or devices). Up to 40 million prescriptions are filled with counterfeits each year in the United States.
